Quick Update

The lease back for the previous owner got pushed back to the end of the month. We move in March 1st. So once I am all moved in and setup I will begin work on things again.

I have been working on the admin tools for Myth when I find time so he can keep adding/modifying/fine tuning etc.

Will post as soon as I am back up and running.

congrat on your new home. by the way, what would be recommended computer spec for your LOA? I am thinking buying a new pc and I would appreciate it if you give me some pointer.
    Cheers.

Ping the optimal specs for the new server are as follows:
    i7-6850K 3.6GHz 6-Core Process
    32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
    1.2TB PCI-E Solid State Drive
    EVGA – GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW

For a second I thought you were saying the servers specs, then got to the video card and was like ahh ok….. You know how expensive that host would be in the cloud lmao!

        • Honestly any modern computer would run lineage just fine (probably any modern smart phone could in terms of computing power honestly). I do believe Legend has managed to run our client on Windows 10, but he would need to confirm that since I am still on Windows 7. I don’t know if you play any other modern games but they would almost certainly be a better reference point for the kind of computer you want to build.

Here are some general tips though when building or buying a new PC. First and foremost there are four pillars that ultimately hold up the performance of your PC. Your graphics card, your memory, your hard drive, and your processor. I like to think of these as legs for a table. The table surface is your overall performance, the ground is your motherboard. If you spend a lot on your graphics card and memory, but cheap out on the hard drive and processor, your table is going have two legs much longer than the others and will be very unbalanced. This is because those other parts will end up being bottlenecks for performance. It doesn’t matter if your graphics card is state of the art when your CPU can’t keep up, or your hard drive can’t read/write that fast. As for your motherboard, it’s the foundation for your table. If you buy a cheap motherboard, your table legs may sink into the ground, hindering their performance. You want something that can handle your hardware well. Ultimately, a computer with all mid-level parts will run better than a computer with the best graphics card money can buy surrounded by cheap parts.

In general, I tend to buy Intel and Nvidia products, but AMD and Radeon are fine as well. If I was building a new PC I wouldn’t get anything below an i7 and 4 cores (6 or 8 would be better). I wouldn’t get less than 16GB of ram (2x8GB sticks, not 4x4GB sticks), DDR4 seems to be the new standard. I currently have a GTX 960, which has served me very well, so I would recommend a GTX 1060 or above. The 1060 will work great for current games, and probably start showing it’s age after a couple of years. The 1070/1080 are really only better options if you are using a 4k monitor or you are really trying to run everything on ultra. Get a solid state drive, don’t get a hard disk. This is one area I would not budge on, SSD is 100% the way to go. Try to get something with at least 500GB of space, but 1TB would be much better.

My pc is wayyyyyy over powered for lineage. Almost any modern pc will do fine. Ive run lineage on a pos computer for testing purposes and had no issues. Its a dated game.

Im like 99% on board with your comment re: PC Specs. The very small part I disagree with is the 1070/1080 only being for 4k. For any gamer who wants to play super fast paced games (for instance I really like Rocket League and Fortnite) its very nice to have a monitor that goes above 60hz. I play at 144hz and have to say I can never go back for these types of games. Having a 1070 helps push these higher framerates to match the monitor (or go higher).

The other part I partially disagree with is the i7. In my opinion it would be “too big of a table leg” (to use your metaphor) when an i5 gets the job done for most GPU-intensive gaming.

        • Trust me, i'm a doctor says:

Just so we’re clear here, you can run lineage 1 on *almost* any PC since like 2004. I think most of us at one point have run this on a single core processor with 1 gig of ram and basically no video card. So I’d guess that whatever computer you have now will play it no problem. Unlike modern games, using a 1080 vs some video card from 5 years ago should make absolutely zero difference at all.

But nothing wrong with getting a new PC just for kicks.

Not that we deserve any better lol.

It will come, but not before they are ready for the beta test and Legends have said it will be ready for us when he is moved to the new house and have time to work on it again.
